Dysons CSYS & CU constitute the companies foray into lighting. Showcasing state-of-the-art LED technology, the range is designed to be suited to both professional and domestic environments. All units are available projecting one of two hues of light; a warmer white light (3K) and a cooler ‘blue’ white light (4K) with a range of features, not least their design that distinguish them on the market.
The design of the CSYS series is a clear doff of the hat to Dyson’s reputation for design-engineering, calling to mind a combination of Bauhaus architecture and the icon of the industrial crane; a symbol of urban development – appropriately. The counter-weighted crossbar can be adjusted on three axes; vertically, horizontally and 360 degrees around its base giving you ample control of illumination. A discreet touch-sensitive dimmer can be found on the base of the unit which features a memory allowing the light to turn on directly to the brightness you previously selected.
The feature that sets Dysons Lamps apart from the crowd, however, is their predicted longevity. Dyson confidently estimates that 144’000 hours (16 Years) of usage will not be unusual and this is primarily due to a copper pipe cooling system running the length of the crossbar. A single drop of water is enough to dissipate the heat from the battery of LEDs – which normally causes long-term damage and discolouration.
The CSYS is available as a desktop lamp, a tasklight with clamp and the larger floor standing model.
The CU Series of pendant lamps boast a similar copper pipe cooling system this time spanning the length of the ‘wings’. Suspended lights provide a powerful light source, and can be positioned precisely where they are required. CU range features a custom-engineered toroidal lens, delivering precisely controlled illumination suited for a variety of spaces. Product life is again impressive, here estimated to be an audacious 180’000 hours (roughly 20 years).
This time the design of the unit appears to pay homage to another, albeit less terrestrial, industrial icon -the satellite. Dyson has stayed true however to their trademark minimal approach and focus on function.
The CU Range is available as an Uplight, Downlight and Duo providing the benefits of both.
