This Hager design 30 surface mounted consumer unit is supplied with arc-fault detection devices are a new fire prevention module from Hager. Designed to identify electrical arcing within cabling, both parallel and series, caused by trapped, damaged or crushed cables or poor termination, rodent damage or general deterioration. Microprocessors within the device analyse the circuit and quickly shut down if an arc is detected, this prevents the risk of a fire. With a new regulation recommending installation of these devices in a number of AC circuits, it is likely that these AFDD devices will become mandatory in the near future.
