Solid Substrate: Porcelain paving requires a stable and level sub-base to prevent movement and potential cracking. This can be either a concrete pad or a well-compacted layer of crushed stone aggregates.

Concrete Pad: If opting for a concrete base, ensure it's at least 150mm (6 inches) thick and laid on a compacted sub-base of at least 100mm (4 inches) for additional stability, especially for driveways.
